'His wife was in labour' - Israeli forces reportedly kill expectant Palestinian father in ‘indiscriminate gunfire’ in Nablus *DISTRESSING*

"A Palestinian man was killed and several others wounded on Sunday reportedly by ‘indiscriminate gunfire’ from Israeli forces deployed in the city of Nablus in the northern West Bank. Footage shows Israeli forces deployed inside the city, with one soldier seen preparing to open fire as tear gas rises in the street. The video also captures the relatives of the deceased paying their respects before escorting his remains to his final resting place, wrapped in the Palestinian flag. "He was on his way to his wife who was in labour, to check on her. He didn’t know whether she had given birth or not, but praise be to God, the Lord of the Worlds, the husband was martyred. He didn’t do anything. He was just walking towards the hospital," said Rami Samaro, a cousin of the deceased. According to the director of medical relief in Nablus, Ghassan Hamdan, six Palestinian civilians were wounded by Israeli gunfire. Hamdan said two were seriously wounded, one of whom died as a result of his injuries. “Indiscriminate gunfire was directed at civilians, resulting in six injuries from live ammunition. Two were in critical condition and one of them died after being shot in the head,” he stated. Palestinian media had earlier reported that 26-year-old Nayef Samaro died in the incident, sustaining critical wounds as his wife was undergoing a caesarean section at Rafidia Hospital to deliver her baby. Meanwhile, the Israeli military noted in a statement that ‘a violent confrontation broke out’ during a ‘counter-terrorism operation’ in the city. The force claims that young men had thrown stones at soldiers, who responded using ‘anti-riot’ techniques which resulted in ‘a number of casualties’. Tensions have remained high in the West Bank since the October 7 attacks by Hamas militants in 2023. According to the latest figures from the Palestinian Health Ministry, at least 759 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces or settlers since the attacks. Meanwhile, at least 26 Israelis were killed in attacks carried out by Palestinians in the West Bank, according to official Israeli data. "
