MANILA, Philippines — The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), which could lead to the formation of a low-pressure area (LPA), has been observed outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the state weather bureau reported on Monday. According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the ITCZ is the line where winds from the northern and southern hemispheres converge. “Within the Intertropical Convergence Zone, a low-pressure area can be formed,” Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said in Filipino in a morning forecast.
