ITCZ outside PAR, may intensify into LPA – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau reported on Monday that the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), which may develop into a low-pressure area (LPA), has been spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the ITCZ is the line where winds from the northern and southern hemispheres converge. “Within the Intertropical Convergence Zone, a low-pressure area can be formed,” Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said in Filipino in a morning forecast.
