MANILA, Philippines —The Department of Public Works and Highways has mobilized heavy equipment to clear ash-covered roads in Albay. Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon on Monday personally inspected clearing operations along the Camalig–Guinobatan Road section of the Maharlika Highway, ensuring the vital route remains passable after thick ashfall from Mayon Volcano blanketed the area. "We need to restore mobility in Albay. Volcanic ash has disrupted daily life, halted transport, and raised safety concerns for motorists and nearby communities," Dizon said. Heavy equipment, including loaders and dump trucks, was deployed to accelerate the clearing, while personnel coordinated traffic management to minimize risk to passing vehicles.
