MANILA, Philippines—Caloocan 2nd District Rep. Edgar Erice wants former Interior secretary Manuel Roxas to run for president in 2028. "I'm convincing Mar Roxas to run," Erice said in a media interview at the House of Representatives on Monday, adding that Roxas had the qualifications to seek the country’s top post. "It is clear that what I believe in is the capability of Mar Roxas," he added. The lawmaker said that he would not participate in the plenary voting at the House on the impeachment articles against Vice President Sara Duterte. "I refuse to be part of a political spectacle that brings no real benefit to the Filipino people," Erice said. "This is not about accountability. This is about partisan politics.” Duterte earlier announced that she will run for president in 2028.
