"Destruction was seen in Busan in the Syrian countryside of Suwayda on Saturday, amid airstrikes by Jordanian forces the previous evening. Jordan said it had targeted sites linked to 'drugs and weapons'. However, local warehouse owner Fares Simeoua claimed his contained only 'barley and wheat', and called for an inquiry. "We were asleep at 11 pm, and all we saw was smoke, stones, and glass falling on us and the children," Simeoua said. "The strike was near the house, where I have warehouses containing barley and wheat. Some young men (media personnel) came and filmed the facilities and saw what was inside—they found nothing but barley and wheat." "We call on the community to send investigative committees and look into this matter themselves, to see whether we are really smuggling drugs as rumoured," he continued. The Jordanian Armed Forces announced a 'Jordanian Deterrence Operation', targeting sites they said were “linked to arms and drug traffickers along the northern border front, based on intelligence and operational information." The statement added that the strikes “included locations used as launch points for smuggling operations into Jordanian territory, which were destroyed precisely to prevent the entry of drugs and weapons.” Meanwhile, the National Guard in Suwayda expressed concern about the strikes, saying they were carried out without prior co-ordination and had "caused panic among civilians, especially women and children." It alleged that some of the strikes hit homes of civilians unrelated to smuggling activities, and one building belonging to an expatriate was also damaged. The Syrian Interim Government had not commented on the strikes at time of publication. Jordan and Syria formed a joint security committee to secure their borders, combat arms and drug smuggling, and prevent the re-emergence of ISIS."
