State of the Strait - Vessels seen moving in Hormuz amid US claims of two vessels receiving safe passage, Iranian denial

"Vessels were seen moving through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday after the US Central Command claimed via social media platform X that it had accompanied two ships through the restricted waterway. "US Navy guided-missile destroyers are currently operating in the Gulf after transiting the Strait of Hormuz in support of Project Freedom. American forces are actively assisting efforts to restore transit for commercial shipping. As a first step, two US-flagged merchant vessels have successfully transited through the Strait of Hormuz and are safely continuing their journey," CENTCOM said in a statement on X. Earlier on Monday, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) blasted the US claim as 'outright lies'. US President Donald Trump initiated a blockade of Iran's ports after Iran said it would shut down the Strait to 'unfriendly' countries, amid an ongoing standoff between the two sides. This follows joint US-Israeli military action against Iran from February 28, which triggered retaliatory strikes and continuing tensions across the Gulf. A ceasefire came into force last month, although talks between the sides have appeared to stall."
