PH, Japan form working group on destroyer, aircraft transfer

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines and Japan on Tuesday established a working group to advance defense equipment and technology cooperation, including discussions on the possible early transfer of Japanese destroyers and patrol aircraft. Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi and Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. signed a joint statement in Makati City creating the group, which will bring together policy, operational and equipment officials from both defense establishments.
