Brunei’s Sultan flies himself to Cebu for Asean 2026

CONSOLACION, Cebu — Brunei’s Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah flew his own plane to Cebu for the Asean Summit 2026. The monarch, a licensed pilot, personally piloted his aircraft and landed Wednesday evening, May 7, at the Mactan–Benito N. Ebuen Air Base. He was accompanied by his son, Prince Abdul Mateen. The Sultan is set to attend the 48th Asean Summit and Related Meetings, which will run from May 7–8.
