Destruction in Al-Daoudiyeh - Israeli strikes leave rubble and casualties in southern Lebanon as fragile ceasefire strains *DISTRESSING*

"An Israeli airstrike hit a commercial centre in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, leaving several people dead and injured and causing widespread destruction. The strike targeted Al-Daoudiyeh Farm on the outskirts of Al-Saksakiyeh in Tyre district, after the Israeli army issued evacuation warnings for several areas in southern Lebanon. Footage shows scattered rubble, smoke rising from the site and emergency teams working to put out fires and search for victims. Damaged belongings could be seen scattered among the debris. Eyewitness Youssef Younes said he had left the area shortly before the strike. "I was leaving the area, and within five minutes - after moving about 200 metres away - we heard the sound of a drone firing a missile. It was either a warning strike or the missile did not explode. Moments later, we came back here to see what had happened, and then the heavy shelling began. Four or five people who were passing along the road were killed," he said. Younes said the site was a commercial centre with 'carpentry workshop, clothing stores.' "We want to send a message. We are the people who fear no death. We will not give up," he added. On Wednesday, Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee issued evacuation warnings for several villages and towns in southern Lebanon, including Al-Daoudiyeh. He urged residents to move at least 1,000 metres away towards open areas. On April 8, Israel launched its largest coordinated wave of attacks on Lebanon since 1980, with more than 100 simultaneous strikes in less than 10 minutes. The incident is referred to by locals as 'Black Wednesday' and resulted in at least 357 deaths and over 1,200 injuries.  On April 15, US President Donald Trump announced a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. On April 23, he said the truce had been extended for three weeks following talks at the White House between Lebanese and Israeli officials. The ceasefire has remained fragile, with Israel continuing operations in parts of southern Lebanon and issuing warnings against returning to some areas. Israel says it is acting against Hezbollah activity, while Lebanon has called for a timetable for Israeli withdrawal and an end to demolitions and strikes."
