The Bombay High Court has upheld the acquittal of 22 individuals in the 2005 Sohrabuddin Shaikh alleged fake encounter case. Appeals filed by Shaikh's brothers challenging the special court's 2018 judgment were dismissed. The court found the prosecution failed to establish a cogent case against the accused. Most of the acquitted were junior police officers from Gujarat and Rajasthan.
