22 areas forecast to hit ‘danger’ level heat indices on Friday, May 8

MANILA, Philippines — Twenty-two areas are forecast to hit danger-level heat indices on Friday, May 8, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa). Heat index, which refers to the heat the human body feels when air temperature and humidity are combined, is automatically categorized as “danger” level once it ranges between 42°C and 51°C. Pagasa said indices under this level carry increased risks of heat cramps and heat exhaustion increases which could then lead to heat stroke.
