After what feels like the longest of waits, we might finally have news of when we can expect the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 to arrive – and it’s not all good news. Respected South Korean outlet ETNews is claiming that the Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 will miss its expected 2026 launch window – which itself would have been a year later than originally expected. Rather, Samsung will apparently launch its second-generation smart ring early next year, in 2027. That would potentially place it in the region of the Samsung Galaxy S27 launch. If accurate, we’d be looking at a three-year gap from the launch of the original Samsung Galaxy Ring in 2024 to its successor. That’s an age in smart tech terms, though it’s arguable that wearable tech such as this doesn’t need to operate on the same annual basis as smartphones. Dominik Tomaszewski / Foundry What to expect from the Galaxy Ring 2 According to the source, Samsung is said to be “focusing on improving battery life, comfort, and sensor accuracy” (the quote is via machine translation) with its new smart ring. The company will apparently reduce thickness and weight by rejigging and optimising the internal components. Battery life is also said to be in line for a bump from seven to nine days. We’re expecting to see improvements in body temperature measuring, sleep tracking, and cardiovascular health insights too. We found the stress tracking feature of the Galaxy Ring to be somewhat erratic, so hopefully this will be sorted. The company is also known to be developing a Brain Health feature that can track early signs of dementia, and is also planning a personal health management platform using Galaxy AI. We’ll be interested to see if Samsung addresses our criticism concerning the original Galaxy Ring’s price. Given that the company has been hiking prices for its smart devices of late, that might be tricky.
