K-pop ignites Mexico - Sheinbaum confirms BTS's return in 2027, thanks South Korean president for support in visiting National Palace

"The South Korean band BTS will return to Mexico in 2027, as announced by President Claudia Sheinbaum during her morning conference this Thursday in Mexico City. The Mexican leader presented a video of the meeting she had on Wednesday with the members of BTS at the National Palace, where she asked them if they wanted to return next year to the country to give more concerts. "BTS returns in 2027 to Mexico (...) We will gradually see. I just saw them yesterday. I saw them yesterday. Very simple young men, really. Very modest, calm," Sheinbaum reported. She also publicly thanked the President of South Korea, Lee Jae-myung, for making it possible for BTS to go to the National Palace and greet their Mexican fans from a balcony. "I want to publicly thank the President of South Korea because without him this would not have been possible. I will send him a letter, we will draft it today, to thank him for this gesture of having come to the National Palace," she indicated. Around 50,000 people gathered in the Zócalo square on Wednesday afternoon to see the members of BTS from a balcony of the National Palace, where Sheinbaum gives her presidential conferences. The band, consisting of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, will offer three concerts on May 7, 9, and 10 at the GNP Seguros stadium, as part of their international tour 'ARIRANG'. According to the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism of Mexico City, an economic impact of up to 1.861 billion pesos is estimated from the BTS concerts in the capital, reflecting the band's impact in the country. The South Korean band has visited Mexico on three previous occasions. Their first concert was in 2014, then they returned in 2015 and later in 2017. During that period, BTS has only performed in Mexico City."
