Sandigan extends time to resolve Revilla bail petition

MANILA, Philippines — The Sandiganbayn's third division has extended by 30 days the period to resolve the separate bail petitions filed by Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. and his co-accused in a malversation case. In a statement, the court said it was constrained to seek additional time due to the “volume of records generated by the proceedings and the number of transcripts of stenographic notes (TSN) containing the witnesses’ extensive testimonies.” The court also noted that it would include in its review the bail petition filed by Jaypee Mendoza on April 27, as well as the supplemental memorandum with motion to admit filed by Juanito Mendoza on April 29. Both submissions were made after the final hearing on the bail petitions held on April 24, 2026. The 30-day extension took effect on May 7. Revilla’s camp said it remains hopeful that the court will grant the senator’s petition for bail. “We said, hope for the best, just pray,” said Revilla’s lawyer, Reody Balisi. Revilla and six others are facing charges of malversation through falsification before the anti-graft court in connection with alleged ghost projects in Pandi. The other co-accused seeking bail include Rice Hernandez, Arjay Domasig, Emelita Juat, and Christina Mae Pineda.
