Manila closes roads for Sunday’s Popeye Run

THE Manila Public Information Office (MPIO) issued several road closure orders in the city for the Popeye Run scheduled for Saturday, May 9. In a Facebook post, the MPIO said the road closures will start at 2:00 a.m., which covers the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard from Katigbak Drive to P. Ocampo Street, the westbound lane of Quirino Avenue from Adriatico Street to Roxas Boulevard, P. Burgos Avenue (southbound) at the corner of Victoria Street, and the westbound lane of Finance Road from P. Burgos Avenue to Taft Avenue. The MPIO urged motorists to take alternate routes and to plan their trips ahead of the scheduled road closures. For the alternate routes, all trucks and trailer trucks coming from the Delpan area and heading toward the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard will be redirected to P. Burgos Avenue, then straight to Finance Road toward their destination. Vehicles from P. Burgos Avenue, intending to access the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard, will be rerouted through Bonifacio Drive. Motorists coming from Jones Bridge, MacArthur Bridge, and Quezon Bridge who intend to use the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard may take the Roundtable toward Maria Orosa Street or proceed straight to Taft Avenue. Vehicles from the westbound lane of Kalaw Avenue heading to Roxas Boulevard southbound will be redirected to M.H. Del Pilar Street. Motorists on UN Avenue, who intend to use the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard, should take the Roxas Boulevard service road. Vehicles from the westbound lane of Quirino Avenue heading toward Roxas Boulevard southbound will be rerouted to Adriatico Street. Meanwhile, motorists coming from the westbound lane of Ayala Boulevard and intending to use the Finance Road-P. Burgos Avenue will be redirected to Taft Avenue, then to A. Villegas Street.
