"The 10th Palestine Marathon kicked off in the Gaza Strip on Friday, drawing widespread participation from residents and various community and health groups, after a hiatus caused by the war. Footage shows the start of the marathon for the disabled people category, followed by different categories for the remaining participants. Large crowds gathered to watch the race, which was accompanied by children's activities and celebratory performances, alongside scenes of the winners being crowned. "This historic event will be held in several locations, the most prominent of which are Bethlehem and the Gaza Strip. As for the Gaza Strip, it has been deprived of this marathon for the fifth consecutive year. Today, this tenth marathon will set off towards freedom and hope," said Mohamed Mansour, the spokesperson for the Egyptian committee. "Holding this marathon in the Gaza Strip demonstrates that we are one nation, and no one will dare to divide or fragment this nation," added Yahya Al-Khatib, Head of the Youth Council in the southern governorates. The Palestinian News and Information Agency (Wafa) reported that two editions of the marathon would be organised simultaneously in both Bethlehem and Gaza, noting that the Gaza edition would cover a five-kilometre route from the Wadi Gaza Bridge heading north. The marathon in the Gaza Strip comes weeks after the Zayed Marathon was organised as part of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, launched by the UAE to provide relief to Palestinians in Gaza, following a complete halt to sporting activities in the Strip in the wake of the war that broke out on October 7 2023."
