"The US Central Command (CENTCOM) on Friday reported that US forces disabled oil tankers M/T Sea Star III and M/T Sevda before they could enter an Iranian port on the Gulf of Oman, citing a violation of the ongoing US blockade. Footage shows smoke rising from the tankers at sea. The exact date and location of the video shared by CENTCOM could not be independently verified. According to CENTCOM, the Iranian-flagged, unladen oil tankers were attempting to dock at an Iranian port on the Gulf of Oman. "A US Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet from USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77) disabled both tankers by firing precision munitions into their smokestacks, preventing the non-compliant vessels from entering Iran," CENTCOM stated. On Tuesday night, US President Donald Trump announced a 'pause' in so-called 'Project Freedom' - a plan to guide ships through the Strait of Hormuz. Just a day earlier, he had warned that Iran would be 'blown off the face of the earth' if it attacked US vessels. Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, dismissed the initiative as 'Project Deadlock,' adding: "As talks progress with Pakistan’s gracious efforts, the US should be wary of being dragged back into a quagmire by ill-wishers." Currently, around 2,000 ships are stranded in the Strait of Hormuz, with Iran blocking the key waterway to 'unfriendly' vessels, while the US continues its blockade of Iranian ports."
