Kennedy Jr., he’s now reportedly preparing to crank back Americans’ use of antidepressants. “Psychiatric medications have a role in care, but we will no longer treat them as the default,” Kennedy, who has admitted to a 14-year heroin addiction , warned early this week at a Mental Health and Overmedicalization Summit. He’s considering banning the use of certain antidepressants known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), Reuters reported , citing two sources with knowledge of the reduction discussions within HHS.
