ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Investment Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh said the Prime Minister of Pakistan is scheduled to visit China later this month, which is expected to open new avenues for collaboration and investment. The Minister also referred to the successful Pakistan-China Business-to-Business (B2B) Conference held in September 2025, terming it a milestone in enhancing bilateral trade and investment cooperation. The minister attended the finals of the “Water Cube Cup” Chinese Song Competition in Pakistan as the Chief Guest, marking the celebrations of 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. Addressing the gathering, which included representatives from the Chinese Embassy, Chinese Cultural Center, Confucius Institutes, artists, and students, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh termed the event a “remarkable reflection of the deep-rooted friendship between Pakistan and China.” He emphasised that Pakistan and China share a bond that is “higher than the mountains and deeper than the oceans,” built on mutual trust, respect, and a shared vision for prosperity. He recalled that Pakistan was among the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with China in 1951 and since then, the relationship has evolved into an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership. Highlighting the importance of arts and culture, the Minister stated that such cultural functions should be held more frequently, as they serve as a powerful means of connecting hearts beyond borders. “While economic corridors connect regions, it is culture, music, and language that truly connect people,” he added. Reflecting on historical ties, the Minister shared that he visited China for the first time in the year ‘1972’, laying the foundation of enduring respect and friendship that continues to grow stronger with time. Linking cultural diplomacy with economic collaboration, Qaiser Sheikh noted that the trust fostered through such engagements directly contributes to strengthening economic partnerships, including the transformational China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He reiterated that Pakistan offers immense opportunities in sectors such as industry, technology, agriculture, and mining, and invited Chinese investors to further explore these avenues. Commending the role of youth, he said that young participants of the competition are the true ambassadors of future Pakistan-China relations. “When our youth learn each other’s languages and express themselves through art, they build bridges of understanding that no formal agreement can achieve,” he remarked. The Minister reaffirmed that Pakistan and China remain committed to shared prosperity, regional stability, and a common future. He congratulated all participants and organisers for making the event a success and expressed confidence that Pakistan-China friendship will continue to flourish for generations.
