ISLAMABAD: Pakistan security forces killed five militants belonging to the banned outfit “Fitna-al-Khwarij” during two separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). In a statement issued on Friday, ISPR said four militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Tank after security forces effectively engaged their hideout following an intense exchange of fire. In another operation conducted in Dera Ismail Khan, one militant was killed during a separate gun battle with security forces. According to ISPR, weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed militants, who were allegedly involved in multiple terrorist activities in the area. The military’s media wing said sanitisation operations are continuing to eliminate any remaining militants in the region, adding that Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue their counterterrorism campaign under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” strategy to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
