"At least 11 people, including pregnant women, children and elderly residents, were killed after gunmen attacked Ngbra-Zongo village in Nigeria's Plateau State in the early hours of Friday. Footage shows mourners, community leaders and police officers gathered at a burial ground. According to media reports, attackers entered the community while residents were asleep, opening fire on homes and forcing many villagers to flee into nearby bushes. “Our women are suffering. Our children are suffering. We are tired. We are tired of burying our children. Enough is enough," a community member said. Bassa Local Government Area Chairman Joshua Riti said it was unacceptable to live in a place where animal lives appeared to be valued more than human lives. "These people have already declared war on us. And therefore, we cannot sleep, we cannot sit down," he added. "Irigwe, as a tribe, has suffered these incessant attacks for over two decades." Assistant Commissioner of Police Elisha Akitinpa urged residents to alert authorities immediately during attacks. "This community was not the one that even gave me information that something is going on here. It was from somewhere else," Akitinpa said. The latest attack has deepened concerns over security in Plateau State, where repeated violence has been linked to farming, grazing and communal tensions."
