Liberation of Serbia would've been impossible without Russian soldiers! - Hundreds take part in Immortal Regiment march in Belgrade

"Hundreds took part in Belgrade's Immortal Regiment march on Saturday to pay tribute to their relatives who fought in World War II on the 81st anniversary of Victory Day. Footage shows participants marching with pictures of their relatives, signs and banners from Vuk Karadzic Square to the Cemetery of the Liberators of Belgrade, where 961 Red Army soldiers and 2,944 Yugoslav soldiers who died during the liberation of Belgrade in October 1944 are buried. Among the attendees were representatives of Serbian government and embassies of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, among other countries. "We remind people of what happened, and that is important for the younger generations, because the older generation is already old and no longer attends this event," Anton, a participant said. "This is Victory Day, and we celebrate it as such, and it is very important that we preserve the memory for all those who took part in the liberation of Belgrade and the liberation of Serbia, together with Russian soldiers, without whom it would not have been possible,” Mira, another participant, stated. This year marks the 81st anniversary of Victory Day, commemorating Nazi Germany’s surrender to Allied forces in 1945. Victory Day is observed in Russia and several other former Soviet states on May 9. Victory in Europe Day is marked in many Western countries on May 8, reflecting the time difference when Germany’s surrender came into effect."
