Emergency services are responding to a serious crash on a Waikato highway. Police were notified of the two-vehicle crash on State Highway 2, Mangatarata, around 6.30am. “Initial indications are that there may be serious injuries”, said a police spokesperson. Diversions are in place at the intersection of SH2 and SH25 to the north, and SH2 and SH27 to the south. Motorists should avoid the area or expect delays, they said. A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said an ambulance, one road manager and a helicopter are at the scene. One person in a moderate condition was being assessed, they told the Herald.
