Victory Day in Havana: Russia honors its fallen soldiers in missions on the island

"The Russian ambassador to Cuba, Viktor Koronelli, participated in a floral offering ceremony at the Mausoleum of the Soviet Internationalist Soldier, in order to honor the memory of the Soviet soldiers who died in Cuba during internationalist missions. In the footage filmed this Saturday, Koronelli is seen leading the ceremony at the mausoleum located southwest of the city, where the remains of 67 soldiers rest. The event included the laying of flower bouquets before the flame and the sculpture of General Issa Pliev (Soviet hero of World War II and head of troops in Cuba in 1962), accompanied by hymns, speeches, and military honors. In addition to the members of the Russian delegation, the event was attended by leaders of the Cuban government and members of the Armed Forces, as well as allied diplomats, such as the Belarusian ambassador to Cuba, Vitali Barchuk. The ceremony takes place in the context of the 81st anniversary of Victory Day, an anniversary with which Russia commemorates the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II."
