Pursuit in the Pacific - Mexican Navy seizes cocaine-laden vessel off Guerrero coast, arrests two foreigners

"Mexican Navy Secretariat (SEMAR) personnel seized a vessel carrying 26 bundles of cocaine off the coast of Guerrero state and arrested two foreign nationals after a chase in the Pacific Ocean. Footage released on Saturday shows SEMAR staff deployed in the coastal area as a helicopter lands, with a member seen transporting a secured bundle to the aircraft. The vessel was tracked from 361 nautical miles (668.5 kilometres) south-southwest of Acapulco before being intercepted as it approached the coast of Arroyo Seco in the municipality of Petatlan. The operation involved surface, air, and land units. The seizure brings the total to 89 bundles of drugs that have been secured in four maritime operations in one week, adding to the more than 65.5 tonnes secured by sea since Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum took office. The Navy Secretariat stated that these actions are part of the permanent maritime, air, and land surveillance operations carried out by the Mexican Navy to inhibit illicit activities in national waters and to strengthen the rule of law in Mexican marine areas."
