"On Sunday, the Spanish Civil Guard carried out a high-security operation to release 147 passengers and crew from the MV Hondius cruise ship, which was anchored off the coast of Tenerife after a hantavirus outbreak on board. Footage shows several Civil Guard and Emergency Military Unit vehicles driving on a highway, reportedly carrying people from the port of Granadilla to Tenerife South Airport. From Spain, passengers will be evacuated to their home countries, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, and the United States, throughout Sunday and Monday. According to Spanish Minister of Health Monica Garcia Gomez, 'all passengers remain asymptomatic'. The ship arrived at the Port of Granadilla in Spain's Canary Islands early on Sunday. The outbreak on the cruise ship is believed to have begun after exposure during the ship's South America itinerary, before it left Ushuaia on April 1. Contact tracing has since expanded across several continents after some passengers left the ship in St Helena, a remote British Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic Ocean, before the outbreak was confirmed. South African authorities traced contacts after a Dutch woman became seriously ill during travel and died after being taken off a flight in Johannesburg. St Helena officials said local contacts had been identified and given health guidance. According to the World Health Organisation, a total of eight cases - six confirmed and two probable cases, including three deaths - have been reported. "
