"Over a thousand anti-government protesters marched through Tel Aviv on Saturday, demanding the removal of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and accusing his coalition of undermining democracy and failing to address violence in Israeli society. Footage shows demonstrators beating drums and chanting slogans as they march toward Habima Square, with some protesters wearing orange overalls linked to anti-Netanyahu activist groups. The rally brought together a broad coalition of activists, including peace advocates and members of the 'Orange Overalls' movement, which protests against Netanyahu's handling of his ongoing criminal trial. Demonstrators accused the government of prioritising political survival over national security, the economy and efforts to secure the release of hostages still held in Gaza. "We are trying to warn against what this government is doing," a protester said, adding, "The settler terrorism that the government supports. It could not continue for even a single day if the government were doing its job." "In the eyes of these people, we are Hellenizers (assimilators, traitors), and when they are the only ones in power, they will wage a war of annihilation against Hellenizers. So the Jews who delude themselves that this does not harm us, do not understand who we are dealing with," he persisted. Another demonstrator from the Orange Overalls movement said Netanyahu was dragging the country into 'unnecessary wars' and abandoning hostages to avoid facing justice in his corruption trial. "We came here to save our country from the danger of becoming a dictatorship. Israel is under a constant threat of annihilation of the democracy by our corrupted, malicious government, and we are here to protect our country," another rally participant remarked. The protest comes amid growing political tensions in Israel, with separate demonstrations also reported in Jerusalem, where police reportedly used water cannons to disperse anti-government protesters blocking roads. The demonstrations also followed a separate rally earlier in the day where more than 100 Israelis gathered in support of the family of a 21-year-old murder victim over what protesters said were expected lenient charges in the case."
