No incentives offered for impeach vote — House leader

MANILA, Philippines — Deputy Speaker Janette Garin said it was not true that lawmakers were offered incentives in exchange for their support to impeach Vice President Sara Duterte. The House of Representatives is expected to vote on Monday, May 11, on the Articles of Impeachment against Duterte. "Not true. Entirely false. P20 million upfront would translate to approx[imately] P6 billion considering the current membership of congress. P3 million per month for a year will translate to approximately P10 billion. Super impossible. Best for his informant to come out and show proof," Garin told the Manila Times on Sunday when asked on the allegations made by Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte. Mayor Duterte alleged that lawmakers were offered P200 million worth of infrastructure projects, P3 million per month for 12 months under Maintenance and Other Operating Expense and an upfront P20 million to support the move to impeach the vice president.
