"The Israeli military claimed on Sunday it had carried out strikes on more than 40 alleged Hezbollah sites across southern Lebanon over the weekend, as tensions continued to rise despite a ceasefire announced last month. Footage released by the IDF shows air strikes hitting several areas near the Lebanese border, with large plumes of smoke rising from targeted locations. The exact location and date could not be independently verified. The Israeli army alleged the strikes targeted command centres, launch sites and other facilities used by Hezbollah to plan attacks against Israeli troops. They also reported that ten Hezbollah fighters were killed in separate operations along the border. The militant group had not immediately confirmed the Israeli claims. It comes as Lebanese officials accused Israel of repeatedly violating the April ceasefire arrangement through continued strikes and military activity inside Lebanese territory. On Saturday, Lebanon's Health Ministry said Israeli strikes had killed at least 2,795 people and wounded 8,586 others across the country since March 2. Israeli forces have also warned residents in around 80 towns in southern Lebanon not to return to their homes. Israel has indicated plans to establish a 'security zone' within Lebanon, extending from the border to the Litani River - covering around 10% of Lebanese territory."
