"Members and supporters of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) celebrated in Chennai after Joseph Vijay was sworn in as the 9th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on Sunday. Footage shows supporters walking with police and ambulances on standby. Party members are seen posing for pictures with supporters, as well as Chief Minister Vijay’s motorcade passing by. Hoardings featuring Vijay’s image lined the streets, with one reading: 'Tamil Nadu Success Club congratulates CM Vijay and MLA Rajmohan.' "He has come for the people, to work for the people. He has not come for his family to amass money or wealth. His family is the people. He has left behind his parents, wife, and family," said TVK member Senthamarai. "It is good news not only for us, not just for our family. I expect him to rule the state continuously and become a permanent Chief Minister. This is my expectation," stated TVK supporter Arokyaraj, who claimed the previous parties in charge of the territory were 'evil forces'. TVK launched in 2024 under Vijay, breaking decades of dominance by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). "We are very excited because there is a change in the government. The youth of Tamil Nadu are with him. We will see how he performs," explained another young TVK supporter, Divyashah. In last month’s election, TVK won 108 out of 234 seats, while former Chief Minister M. K. Stalin’s DMK secured 59. TVK garnered support from 13 MLAs across five parties: the Indian National Congress, Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)), Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), Communist Party of India (CPI), and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK). With this backing, TVK passsed the majority mark of 118 and formed a government with a total of 121 seats."
