ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that a mother is a “great blessing bestowed by Almighty Allah and an eternal symbol of love, compassion, sacrifice, and selflessness.” In his message on the occasion of Mother’s Day on Sunday, he said, a mother is not only the foundation of a family but also plays a central role in building a civilised, dignified, and strong society. “A mother’s lap is the first institution of learning, where an individual receives lessons in love, morality, tolerance, and humanity. Mothers hold an exceptionally high status in Pakistani society, while the country’s religious and social values strongly emphasise respect, care, and obedience towards parents, especially mothers,” he said.
