"The 'Light of the Great Victory' performance took place at the 'Motherland Calls' monument in Russia's Volgograd to mark the 81st anniversary of Victory Day. Footage shot on the night of May 6-7 shows fireworks over the monument, as well as a spectacular multimedia display within the memorial complex. The show included over 20 projectors with the musical accompaniment based on works by legendary Soviet composer Alexandra Pakhmutova, reflecting key moments in Russian history. This year marks the 81st anniversary of Victory Day - the moment in 1945 Nazi Germany surrendered to allied forces in WW2. It is traditionally observed in Russia, CIS and other countries on May 9, with similar commemorations held around the world. In Moscow, the annual parade takes place in the iconic Red Square."
