President, PM hold key meeting

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday held a key meeting at Aiwan-e-Sadr to discuss the country’s overall security and political situation, including developments related to Afghanistan and the rapidly changing regional landscape. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, and Dr. Asim Hussain also attended the meeting. The participants paid tribute to the martyrs of “Marka-e-Haq” and lauded the professional capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces, while reaffirming the country’s unwavering commitment to national defence. During the meeting, President Zardari stressed the need to provide maximum relief to the public despite difficult geopolitical and regional conditions, ongoing tensions in the Middle East, and disruptions in global supply chains. The President also directed authorities to explore all possible measures to ease inflationary pressure, ensure the availability of essential commodities, and provide relief to the common man.
