CEBU CITY, Philippines — Lapu-Lapu police admitted that authorities had “no time” to apply maximum tolerance during the arrest of Greenpeace activists who staged a protest near the 48th Asean Summit venue in Cebu. During the a news media forum on Tuesday morning, May 12, Lapu-Lapu City Police Office Director Police Colonel Agosto Daskeo defended the police response to the May 8 protest near Mactan Newtown. Daskeo confirmed that police arrested four Greenpeace members and charged them with violating Batas Pambansa Blg. 880 or the Public Assembly Act.
