"The recent roadblocks in Bolivia, caused by the increase in fuel prices and the strong demand for the resignation of the current president, Rodrigo Paz, have led to a severe shortage and a price increase in chicken and beef, mainly in the markets of La Paz and El Alto, where a food crisis is already being warned. In the images, long lines of people can be seen at chicken and beef selling establishments, as well as closed businesses inside markets. Consumers and merchants expressed their frustration over the lack of products and the price increase. "I have been in line since five in the morning, and it's already seven, and my staff and I are not going to sell today because there is no chicken," said Erika Callisaya, an affected resident. The disruption of cargo transportation has caused several markets to start looking half-empty and their prices to rise abruptly; chicken prices soared up to 35 bolivianos per kilo in some areas, well above the usual costs, significantly reducing supply. Some buyers primarily blame the federal government, arguing that they have no intention of providing a solution and regret their vote. "We are in a bad situation. I think the government should have acted because right now we are very helpless and no one is doing anything," added Angela Quisbert, another affected resident. As the blockades persist, uncertainty increases among the population, who fear that the shortage will extend to other essential products in the coming days. In response to the crisis, the Bolivian government launched an air operation to transport approximately 10,000 kilos of chicken from Santa Cruz to La Paz and El Alto, with the aim of reducing the shortage and stabilizing prices in the most affected supermarkets."
