LAHORE: Senior diplomatic and business leaders have called for deeper economic cooperation between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan, identifying pharmaceuticals, IT, renewable energy, and tourism as key sectors for growth. Kyrgyz Deputy Head of Mission Melis Moldaliev and Honorary Consul Kashif Younis Mehr met with Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Faheem Ur Rehman Saigol on Monday, agreeing that despite strong diplomatic relations, bilateral trade remains well below its potential. Saigol stressed that regular exchanges of trade delegations and greater use of existing trade agreements could unlock significant economic opportunities for both nations. Moldaliev noted that Kyrgyzstan has already established a Trade House in Lahore, with plans to expand to other Pakistani cities, and invited Pakistani companies to explore investment in mining, agriculture, construction, and textiles. Both sides also highlighted Pakistan’s strategic geographic position as a gateway to regional markets. Copyright Business Recorder, 2026
