Spot power prices soar to P5.63/kWh in April

MANILA, Philippines – The price of electricity traded in the spot market increased by 30.6 percent in April due to a rise in power demand. On Wednesday, the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines (IEMOP) said systemwide power rates for April supply increased to P5.63 per kilowatt hour (kWh) from P4.31 per kWh last month.
