Meralco rates slightly dip in May despite fuel price woes

MANILA, Philippines – Despite projections of of a significant jump in electricity rates this May due to the ongoing Middle East crisis affecting oil prices, Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) will instead implement a minimal rate cut for its more than 8 million consumers. Meralco, the biggest power distributor in the Philippines, on Wesnesday said there would be a reduction of P0.0151 per kilowatt hour for this month’s billing.
