'They attacked us with explosives' - Hundreds of residents of Alcozacan are displaced from their homes after incursion of criminal group in Guerrero DISTURBING

"The incursion of the criminal group 'Los Ardillos' caused the displacement of hundreds of people in communities in the Chilapa region, in Guerrero, where residents reported attacks with explosives launched from drones. Images recorded this Tuesday in Alcozacan show the intense operation deployed by the National Guard and the State Police, due to the violence generated by the criminal group. During the operations, authorities found the body of a man and proceeded to secure the area. "The criminal group 'Los Ardillos' threw bombs at our houses in Xicotlan, in Tula, all the way here in Alcozacan. We had a way to defend ourselves because we informed the government and they never came," said Jose Lorenzo Sanchez, Commissioner of Alcozacan. He reported that in this community, there are between 300 and 400 people displaced by the presence of the criminal group, so they moved to the municipal commissioner to be attended by local authorities. "They attacked us with explosives, with drones they threw at the town. Can you imagine if they fell where we are gathered? Can you imagine how many people would die? And also what is Xicotlán, Tula. All this with fear," noted Sixto Mendoza, Coordinator of the community police. Although the residents accused not receiving support from the authorities, the Undersecretary of Public Affairs and Social Development of Guerrero, Francisco Rodríguez, stated that an operation was deployed in order to "not put the civilian population at risk," so an assessment of the situation had to be made. "We have been working in coordination with the State Governor, teacher Evelyn Salgado Pineda, with the federal authority in direct communication with the [Public Security] Secretary Omar Garcia Harfuch, with the aim of first addressing the issue of people's safety," indicated the official. In addition to Alcozacan, the residents of the community of Coatzingo also had to leave their homes due to the aggression of the criminal group. In order to restore order, an operation was deployed consisting of 1,290 elements, 164 vehicles, and five aircraft, with which the block in the Chilapa community corridor was liberated."
