Samsung may have only just begun rolling out its One UI 8.5 update, but its attention has already turned to what’s next. One UI 9-related pages have begun to crop up on Samsung’s official forum pages in a number of countries. SamMobile reports that One UI 9.0 Beta forum pages have been created in six countries, including the UK and the US. Breaking news! As we reported back in March , the first build of One UI 9 has already been spotted on the company’s servers, so work is evidently well underway. One UI 9.0 will see Samsung switching from Android 16 to Google’s new Android 17 OS, which has now formally launched and is expected to begin rolling out to recent Pixel phones soon. Foundry Android 17 on Galaxy phones Android 17 is expected to add features such as Priority Charging, improved app ‘bubbles’, more nuanced data access management, and a separate Wi-Fi/Mobile Data toggle. While Samsung could implement and adapt some of the core features of Android 17 into its new UI, we’re expecting the big Samsung-driven changes to wait until the arrival of One UI 9.5. As predicted a year ago, One UI 8.5 has proved to be a bigger deal than One UI 8. It accompanied the launch of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S26 series, adding AirDrop support , an improved Quick Panel, a more agentic approach from Galaxy AI, and more besides. We’re expecting One UI 9.5 to follow suit, likely launching alongside the Samsung Galaxy S27 series in January or February of 2027.
