MANILA, Philippines — Forty-nine areas across the country are forecast to reach “danger” level heat indices on Thursday, May 14, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa). Heat index refers to the heat the body feels when air temperature and humidity are combined. Once it ranges between 42°C and 51°C, Pagasa automatically categorizes it as “danger” level due to increased risks of heat cramps and heat exhaustion which could then lead to heat stroke.
