Optometrists to sue State for €100m over rates paid for ‘free eye tests’

The Department of Social Protection is being targeted with what could be a more than €100m damages claim by independent optometrists, who are challenging the amount the Government pays them for performing eye-tests under the Treatment Benefit Scheme.
