NBI, PNP to investigate if Senate shooting was 'staged'

MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) will investigate whether Wednesday's shooting incident at the Senate was "staged." NBI Director Melvin Matibag issued the statement following claims that the incident was orchestrated to facilitate the exit Sen. Ronald dela Rosa. "This is part of the ongoing investigation. We'd rather not draw a conclusion in an ongoing investigation," Matibag said during a press briefing in Malacañang. "We will review the footages and use our forensic capabilities to find out what happened," he added.
