MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Thursday announced that the collection of terminal fees at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) will be suspended for three months starting on May 18. In a statement, DOTr said the suspension will cover all public utility vehicles (PUVs) that use PITX, which includes city and provincial buses, modern and traditional public utility jeepneys, UV Express vehicles and taxis. The move is aimed at extending assistance to PUV operators amid the ongoing energy crisis caused by the Middle East conflict, which has led to soaring fuel prices in the country.
