Jammu : Sainik School Nagrota has once again brought pride to the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir by securing the runners-up position at the prestigious IPSC Basketball Championship 2026 for Under-17 Boys, held from May 8 to May 10 at Pestle Weed School. The championship witnessed participation from 21 reputed schools from across the country, making the competition highly intense and challenging. Demonstrating exceptional teamwork, discipline, determination and sportsmanship, the cadets of Sainik School Nagrota delivered an impressive performance throughout the tournament and clinched the coveted Runners-up Trophy. The team registered several convincing victories during the championship. Sainik School Nagrota defeated Sainik School Kunjpura by 30-15, overcame Welham Boys School with a score of 29-11, and outplayed Birla Public School by 43-19. One of the most thrilling encounters of the tournament came against MNSS Rai, where the cadets edged out their opponents with a nail-biting 47-44 victory. The team also put up commendable performances against strong contenders, including The Mann School and the host institution Pestle Weed School, earning appreciation for their fighting spirit and professional conduct on the basketball court. The achievement reflects the high standards of sports training and holistic development imparted at Sainik School Nagrota. The Principal, staff and fellow cadets congratulated the basketball team for their outstanding accomplishment and for bringing honour to both the institution and the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
