MANILA, Philippines — Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano on Thursday said he is awaiting reports from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Senate security officials before issuing a comprehensive statement on the reported overnight security incident at the Senate complex and conflicting reports surrounding Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa. Speaking to reporters shortly after arriving at the Senate, Cayetano said he had been in communication with Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla. The Senate chief declined to confirm reports that dela Rosa left the Senate premises. “I just got here. I'm just getting all of the reports from 10 different people. I cannot answer your question if I do not know,” Cayetano said. “You can interview me later, I am still waiting for the official report from the DILG,” Cayetano told reporters. “We will be fully transparent with you. I'm waiting for the report. I am in contact with Secretary Remulla. Give me maybe two hours. Then we will give you a full briefing.”
