MANILA. Philippines — The Ombudsman has issued a six-month preventive suspension to acting Senate Sergeant at Arms Mao Aplasca in connection with the shooting incident at the Senate on Wednesday, May 13. Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said he issued the suspension order to prevent Aplasca from influencing the government's investigation of the incident. Remulla said Aplasca's actions were "worrisome." Initial investigation showed that Aplasca fired the first shot, prompting a personnel of the NBI to shoot back.
