Eastern Visayas co-ops warn of rotating outages amid grid alerts

TACLOBAN CITY — Electric cooperatives across Eastern Visayas warned consumers of possible power interruptions after the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) placed the Visayas grid under red and yellow alert status due to insufficient power supply amid the forced outage of several power plants. In separate advisories, power cooperatives in the region informed their member-consumer-owners (MCOs) that manual load dropping (MLD), or temporary power interruptions in selected areas, may be implemented to prevent a total collapse of the grid.
