KARACHI: Consul General of Republic of Korea based in Karachi, Joohoon Kim called on Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi, here at the Governor House on Friday, where they discussed bilateral relations between Pakistan and South Korea, with a particular focus on trade, investment, industrial collaboration, and strengthening mutual cooperation in multiple sectors. The governor said that Pakistan and South Korea enjoy longstanding friendly relations that should now be expanded through stronger economic and institutional engagement. He emphasized the importance of enhancing business-to-business (B2B) and government-to-government (G2G) connectivity to unlock new opportunities in trade, investment, technology transfer, and industrial development. He highlighted Sindh’s growing importance as a major hub for investment and commerce, stating that the province — especially Karachi — offers a highly conducive, secure, and attractive environment for foreign investors. He noted that the government is taking practical measures to facilitate international businesses and encourage greater foreign direct investment in key sectors of the economy. The governor further stressed the need to expand Pakistan–Korea cultural, educational, and scholarship exchange programs, saying that stronger academic and people-to-people connections would help deepen bilateral ties. He added that Pakistan is keen to benefit from South Korea’s expertise in advanced technology, vocational training, information technology, manufacturing, and the automobile industry. He also remarked that South Korea could effectively benefit from Pakistan’s skilled and semi-skilled workforce, which has demonstrated its capabilities in various international markets. He said enhanced cooperation in manpower development and technical training could prove mutually beneficial for both countries. Korean Consul General expressed keen interest in expanding cooperation with Pakistan, particularly in Sindh, in economic, trade, educational, and cultural sectors. He acknowledged the strong potential for collaborative ventures and reaffirmed South Korea’s commitment to strengthening bilateral engagement with Pakistan. Both sides agreed to continue joint efforts aimed at further enhancing economic, commercial, educational, and cultural relations between Pakistan and South Korea for the mutual benefit of the two nations.
